Project #3 was way fun!!! I needed to get a little more organization to my desk in the kitchen. There was too much stuff laying around and I needed to get it up and off the desk top, soooooooo, I went to Target and found some clear plastic file holders that go on the wall. I sanded the front of them down first, then measured my paper fit, rounded the bottom corners to match and covered the sanded area in mod podge and placed my paper over that. I really liked the results, it helps hide whats on the inside and looks stylish at the same time.
So the other project that I took on was to make a picture to go on the wall in my family room downstairs. I needed a few things to match my new carpet and furniture (since we had the unfortunate adventure of our water heater breaking and flooding the basement). So I went to D.I., my favorite place to find and refinish picture frames, and found this cute one. I took everything off the back, kept the glass and painted it blue and sanded the edges just a little, then I put some scrapbook paper in it. Added a few embelishments again and came up with this. What do you think...not bad a just a few dollars!
I added the gems to the middle of each flower on the outside of the glass and it really made it pop!
So I have a work room in my basement and I absolutely LOVE staying in there for hours. There is so much to do and create! I made a few things for my home last summer, which I hardly ever have time to do, and this was one of them. I saw this cute idea while watching the Spotted Canary show. This is one of those large black paper clips. I cut a piece of scrapbook paper the same size as the black area, then I covered the paper in my roll on double sided tape. That was easy enough. Then I punched out the scalloped edge circle and put the round embelishment on it and taaaadaaa! I keep a 4x6 photo it in, and it naturally closes on it. I think it might work a little bit better if you used those tiny little powerful magnets on it, but it works ok for now. Too cute.
